Kitchen Remodeling Ideas: Expanding Your Possibilities

Kitchen Remodeling Ideas: Expanding Your Possibilities

Every home has a kitchen. Large or small, traditional or modern, and usually is just one. However, look around, and you may notice a trend toward adding kitchen amenities throughout the home—sometimes in surprising places. For example, many homeowners are expanding their traditional kitchen space into the backyard or including a wet bar in the family room, finished basement, or even the primary suite. If you are considering expanding your kitchen, here are some possibilities to make your life easier.

An outdoor kitchen

Many kitchen remodeling ideas involve opening the kitchen up more to adjacent living spaces, even outdoor living spaces. It’s easier than ever to integrate the interior of your home with the outdoors by replacing the sliding door with glass panels that fold away and practically disappear when they’re open. We can then bring the indoors outside by creating a custom outdoor kitchen (with amenities such as a sink, icemaker, mini-fridge, and freezer), a large grill, counter space for food prep and serving, and storage cabinets. Separate outdoor living rooms centered around a fireplace or fire pit are also very popular. Imagine being able to chat with your guests while you cook, grab some fresh herbs from your garden, and have refills for everyone’s drink on hand without leaving the patio; your living spaces can flow seamlessly, so you enjoy the best of both worlds.

A custom kitchen in the…master suite?

A small kitchen in the primary suite is great for late-night snacks and morning coffee. Start with a single-serve coffee maker and keep going: add a small sink, refrigerator, countertop, and cabinet storage. And it doesn’t have to look at all like a kitchen. For example, we can add cabinets that can blend with the look of your bedroom but conceal an efficient (and elegant) mini custom kitchen. The refrigerator is also great if you have medicine or cosmetics that need refrigeration, but you’d like close at hand in the primary suite.

Basement beverage center and more…

Why settle for just a wet bar when so many options are available for your finished basement? Start with a wine refrigerator cabinet, ice maker, undercabinet mini-fridge, and freezer-in-a drawer. Next, add custom cabinets for storage alongside a coffee maker, microwave, and blender. Finally, include a dishwasher to eliminate lugging dirty dishes upstairs. Whatever food and beverages you want to keep in stock for game day or movie night, we have a custom solution that will be right for your lifestyle.

Even if updating one kitchen is enough for your current needs, we have ideas that can pack that custom kitchen with great design, storage, function, and fun! Please take a look at some examples of our work in our photo gallery.
