Featured Project: A Kitchen Remodel in McLean, VA

It may sound cliché, but the kitchen is truly the heart of the home. It’s where you begin and end your day, gather with family and friends, create delicious meals, and complete school and work projects. Today, 82 percent of the meals Americans eat are prepared at home, a much higher percentage than a decade ago, according to recent data from Bloomberg. In short, the kitchen acts as an anchor for the entire home.

Kitchen Remodel McLean

In a recent full kitchen remodel in McLean, VA, we were asked to redesign the kitchen to incorporate it into the living area. Another objective was to also improve the overall flow of the home. The clients, a retired couple, moved out of the house while we undertook a complete gut and rebuild of their home. To begin the project, we removed the wall between the kitchen and living room.

Chef’s Kitchen

The newly opened space gave us a clean slate with which to work on the kitchen remodel in McLean. After laying new hardwood floors throughout the living area, we set to work creating a true chef’s kitchen, complete with high-end appliances and abundant storage. We installed custom-made cabinetry, with solid and glass doors, around the kitchen’s perimeter. In the breakfast nook, we included cabinets that offer plenty of storage as well as a built-in bar area.

Kitchen Island

In the center of the kitchen, we added a large island with a prep sink and an under-counter beverage refrigerator. The island offers additional seating as well as an excellent place for hosting family gatherings and parties. Throughout the kitchen, we paid attention to every detail, including adding a pot filler over the six-burner gas stove, a custom tile backsplash, and a plaster hood.

Breakfast Nook

In the breakfast nook, we replaced the existing sliding door with French doors to allow easy access to the back patio. In the living area, we removed built-in bookcases that flanked the fireplace and installed a new fireplace surround. Finally, we enlarged the nearby staircase opening to the basement and added new railings. The result – a stunning kitchen remodel in McLean, VA for our clients! We did more work for these clients, too. Visit the project page to see more images of this McLean home remodel.
